Review - All Things Big.. A woman's take on the Patek Philipe Nautilus

On the morning of December 31, 2015, as most of the people all over the world rushed to make last minute shopping, meet a deadline, bridge gaps, acquire another tax deduction, get married or come up with some vaguely attainable resolution – all within the anxiety of suddenly galloping minutes before the grand celebration, I disappeared in the quiet outskirts of Condado Beach, Puerto Rico and lost “the old year meets the new year panic” at the very artsy Art D’Chocolat Café. Sitting outside, with the warm tropical weather caressing my sleeveless arms, I couldn’t help admire once again the watch I was wearing, a Patek Philippe Nautilus, which although masculine and robust, complimented my unique style and admiration for all things big. A 37 mm 18k yellow gold case black dial with horizontal stripes gold hour markers, and an 18k yellow gold bracelet with Nautilus fold-over clasp over my tanned arm. Automatic Movement. A style of sophistication and precision that made me stand out among the artsy crowd with a rare and loud statement of unparalleled self-expression.

As I sat at the table, enjoying a very rare solitude, sipping on a foamy latte, deep in creative thoughts of working on my next song, and noticing respectful glances at my arm, it suddenly dawned on me: Gerald Genta, the creator of the amazing jewelry piece I was wearing, designed Nauitilus at a restaurant while sitting alone. He asked the waiter for a piece of paper and a pencil and sketched the entire creation in 5 minutes. Although my own masterpiece that had later become one of my most known hits was given birth in a slightly longer period, I felt a very special connection to the amazing inventor and his purpose.

Perhaps it was the solitude and the ambience of the surroundings that Gerald felt as did I, that allowed me to create my own work of art. Or maybe, the closeness of having his brilliance on the arm that held my own pencil and told time for the sole essence of being lost in the creative moment, was what made me feel inspired to write this great song that day. Whatever it is, I am grateful to Gerald Genta for gifting the world with his amazing genius and inspiring the world for many more.
